Hello. First I would like to say this. It's been about 10 years since I brought a laptop. I'm in the market for a gaming laptop that I could take on the road with me. My budget is about $2000. I've had my eye on 2. Alienware AW15R28469SLV with 970nvidea gpu 3.5ghz I7 1tb and 256ssd. For about $1800 This second one is the MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO-001. It has a 2.6 I7 with 1 tB 128 ssd with a 1070nvidea card with 2.6ghz i7. Which one would be the best price. Isn't 2.6ghz to slow for a gaming laptop or has technology changed that much in the last years that 2.6 i7 would run anything.? What are you guys input on this ?
That's the "slow" CPU on MSI http://ark.intel.com/products/88967/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz And "fast" CPU on Alienware http://ark.intel.com/products/88967/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz See difference? I don't. As for recommendations, I never recommend any gaming laptops as they are not very long lasting.
Yeah that's what I'm not understanding also. Why would Msi put a 2.6ghz cpu in a gaming laptop. That kinda slow
Because of power consumption. CPU clock is 2.6 GHz when all cores on load, turbo clock max (when 1-2 cores on load and temps low) is 3.5 GHz.
