I am looking for a budget Graphics Card for a PCI express x16 slot i would like to improve from what i have now on this older set up it is an AGP ATI radeon 9600 atlantis 256 ram on card GPU Frequency : 2400 MHz Memory Frequency GPU : 1450 MHz I will be updating my motherboard and CPU so i will be looking for a PCI express card any suggestions
Ok. in that sort of range you want a geforce 7600GS from xfx, asus, evga, bfg... any well know brand. but you cant expect too much from it. (expecting oblivion to run outdoors on decent settigs would be expecting too much) It may be worth considering these 7600GT they will blow the GS version away and theyre not that much more
thanks matt the 7600 series looks about like what i am after any info on ATI my initial thought was to upgrade my motherboard which forces me to change ram and graphics but I do not have a huge amount to spend so i am looking for a card thats faily inexpensive yet preforms well the games i usualy play are star trek legacy, star trek armada 2, age of empires 3
I'm not sure about ATI, but I can give you this link that will show you that there is quite a big difference in performance between the 7600gs and 7600gt. iXBT: Îáçîð NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS 256MB PCI-E
Oh, and if you can, I would get this version of 7600gt from newegg. Newegg.com - EVGA GeForce 7600GT 256-P2-N615-TX Video Card - Retail It may not be the fastest 7600gt, but its more reliable then an overclocked one. And is way faster then any 7600gs for $110.
I concidered that card actualy but i think i will get an XFX instead Newegg.com - XFX GeForce 7600GT PVT73GUGF3 Video Card - Retail because i can get to all the ram chips I have a pack of ram heatsinks that stick on that evga looks really nice except i can not get at two of the chips because of its cooler thank you very much for that comparison link it had the ati card on ti i wondered about also x1600xt which i decided against because i have an ATI card now and do not like it that much however i have always liked nvidia
