for some reason, i have always had a problem getting my pc to boot from the XP disc. i have tried a couple different xp discs and my computer refuses to boot from CD. i have 2 plextors and 1 pioneer. in the bios, i have first boot set to CD ROM, then a plextor, then the hard disk. for some reason, if i c hange the order of the devices, still having hard disk in there, or adding both plextors, it wont boot at all even to windows, i'll get an NTDLR messsage, or INSERT SYSTEM DISK or something like that. then, after i restart , in the bios boot priority order, i'll see different options, like SLOT, SLOT, SLOT , SLOT, like 7 different spots with SLOT in there, but if i change the boot order back to CD ROM, PLEXTOR, HARDDISK, then restart, the slots will be gone. anybody have any ideas how i can boot to CD...my xp is really unstable right now and bogged down. thx
weird, please explain booting the XP CD is not the only way to do a clean install of XP Edit: cant find your mobo, can u, BTW: what country you in ?[ot]& possibly what mobo revision ?[/ot]
the SLOT comes from the bios. if i ever changed the order of my boot devices, the system will not allow me to boot, and in the new boot device section, it lists sometimes like hard disk, SLOT, SLOT, SLOT, SLOT.
i will try to take a picture of the screen for you so that you can see what im talking about, its a bit difficult to explain
