Hey guys, I'm having trouble with a new motherboard. I've installed everything on my board, but everytime I try to boot up, the motherboard doesn't seem to recognize the monitor. I've tried switching all the cables, switching sources(graphics card and onboard video), even switching monitors. It seems like I had this problem on my last motherboard as well right before I sent it off because of another issue. Any ideas?

hi, you didnt specify your problem really clearly but if you mean that your screen goes black on boot as if you havent plugged your gfx card in then go into VGA mode and mess about with the video settings, lower resolution etc. i say this because i ran into that problem on my gfs com and it was that her monitor didnt support her set resolution, sorry if i read your problem wrong lol

you may have a integrated gpu and an extrenal gpu, the internal is set to default and the external is seemed to be not used you can set it up

you may have not plugged the video card in correctly

your gfx may have a problem

Alright, sorry I wasn't very clear before. Here's the deal with the screen: it doesn't seem to respond to any input from the pc--just a black screen. I have noticed that it will jump a little on an old crt monitor, but not long enough to get any image. Do you think it could be a bad power supply, because the cd-drive won't open? Maybe the motherboard is getting enough power to run the fan and lights but not enough to run the cpu.

Hard to say. Would you might posting the specs of this system including the brand and model/wattage of the power supply?

K guys, I think I've possibly discovered the root of the problem. Basically, the peripheral lights such as the cd-rom and power buttons do not respond to any user input no matter how long I press them down. Is it possible the machine is not really getting any power, just enough to keep the fans running?

    Also, here's some specs:

    Motherboard: EliteGroup amd690gm-m2

    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Windsor 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO3600CUBOX

Case with powersupply(Also possible root of problem): LOGISYS Computer Area 51 CS51WBK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply

Hey guys, I've managed to find a solution. Wish I knew exactly what was wrong in the bios, but curiosity will have to reign I guess. Turns out that resetting the CMOS Jumper fixed it. I thought I had already tried this, but now it seems to work and the lights work properly as well as the monitor. The buttons on the front panel even work :) Thanks everyone for the advice. I've learned alot.
