Please Help Me!

    iam a newbie so please excuse me by chance i breach any rules of the forum!

    my question is that i have a INTEL 965 RY MOTHERBOARD with CORE 2 DUO PROCESSOR. 1GB DDR2 RAM is ALREADY installed but i would like to upgrade my ram. so upto how much GB RAM can i upgrade which will be supported by my system.

    i have another INTEL 845G CHIPSET P-4 MACHINE AND MY QUESTION IS THE SAME THAT UPTO HOW MUCH GB RAM WILL MY SYSTEM SUPPORT.

    What are you using this system for???

    What Operating system are you using???

    If you are using XP or Vista 32bit then max you can put on there is 4GB of memory but if you are using 64bit Vista then you can put 8GB max. I recommend you get DDR2 6400 (800Mhz).


    As for the other system, well i can't say much because it's old and i don't know much about it.

    It's depend on your motherboard specification, what i know intel 965 support to 4 gb on vista

    Each motherboard is different when adding ram.
    Your 965 board should be the same as most others and support 4 and possibly higher.
    Your 845 however usually has a 2 gig limit on cheaper boards, usually comes with 2 ram slots and on many there is a 512mb limit.
    some of the 845g/e/f etc models were modified by asus msi and a few others to accommodate more than 2 gig of ram.
    When in doubt download your manual and find out.
