I have saved a document at work in vista using microsoft office 2007. I have gone home to open then print it but it does not open and it just goes in decode mode? There are all funny lines everywhere thats it. I am using office 2003. Is there any way i can do this please
You just need to install the Office Compatibility Pack. If you want to save Office documents in a format that older version of Office support, choose 'Office 2000-2003 format' at the Save section in Office 2007.
Another thing you can do if you're at home and you don't have time to go to the office to save your document in 2003 format is to download and install OpenOffice which is a FREE and OPEN SOURCE software that is IMO at least as good as MS Office (I switched and I've been working with MS Office since Office 1997). Open Office will open your documents save in 2007 format, no problem. Don't mistake this free open-source software with the other one with a very similar name which is not free. Yeah, open it once again in 2007 and then again save in compatibility mode. After that you will be able to open the document in 2003. But, even after that if you face the problem then it means the document is corrupted and you need to repair it for getting the content back. You can repair the document with Kernel for Word repair software.
office 2007 have .doxs extension and 2003 have .doc extension. so you can't open the docs. you need to download converter to convert the file format without Altered the file.
