    Hi,
I got my new (used) computer yesterday. It worked fine at first but then I happened to fuck it up, so now it's fucked up :O

I'd like to completely reset it so that it is as if it was right out of the box with no OS installed. I have got access to BIOS, please help!
    Thanks!

In order to reset your new/used computer to factory defaults, you are going to need the operating system discs that came with the computer. Some computers build by major manufacturers have built in recovery partitions on the HDD (ie: HP). If you do not have these discs or a recovery partition, you will need to purchase a new/legal disc and product key for your operating system of choice (I'm assuming Microsoft Windows) to get it reinstalled.

In order to help you more effectively, could you please answer a couple of questions?:
    • Is your computer build by a manufacturer? If yes, what is the make and model (IE: HP Pavilion E6212)
    • What operating system was on the computer when you got it? (ie: Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista)

Well first of all, thank you - this is looking promising!
    Secondly:
    • It's a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S7010D.
    • I've got a copy of the original XP (Profesional) -disk that came with the computer ( + the registration code).

    No problem!
Ok, so in order to get a fresh install of your operating system on that computer, you're going to have to put that XP Pro disc in the cdrom drive and boot from it. If the computer is not set by default to boot from the drive, you can change this in the BIOS (usually under "Boot Order"). How the disc goes about installing the OS may be specific to the manufacturer, but it should not be too difficult to understand if you fully read all of the options. And if you need any additional help, we'll be here.

After the operating system is installed, if you are missing any drivers, they should be available on the manufacturer's website.

OK, Windows XP Profesional is now installed but ...
I went to install the missing drivers and as I tried I discovered that I didn't even have drivers for the network card.
I sense this is getting really nooby now but I am a noob and I need help.
    Thanks!

Hey, don't worry about being "nooby" :-P We've all been there. Hell, I'm still there all the time, heheh.

About those network drivers... I suspect you have another method of getting online because you are posting on the site.
Using the computer you are getting online with, go to Fujitsu support - LINK HERE and you can get drivers for your laptop by clicking "Drivers and Downloads" on the left and then clicking the correct information on the screen that comes up. When all is said and done, you will have access to every driver for your computer. Download the necessary drivers and burn them to a cd/dvd or put them on a usb flash drive to transfer them to the laptop. Once you get them on the laptop you should be able to run the installers by double clicking and following any instructions.
