Hello and thank you for helping me. :D

After cleaning my computer for the first time in a long time (with dust off >.<) and doing it on a carpet (>.<) (where I usually do it though, I didn't know it was a no-no until I started researching this) my computer failed to turn on.

When I press the on button there is absolutely no response from any part of the computer. On the back and inside on the motherboard there is a small green light which is usually solid. Now when I connect the power this light blinks in both places. When I completely disconnect the power supply from the motherboard the light remains solid!

I cannot tell whether or not my motherboard is faulty or my power supply is. I have disconnected and removed everything from the motherboard and power supply but still cannot get any response from the fans.

Here is some of my info:
    Sony VGC-RB52
    Motherboard: Intel D945PPR
    Pentium M

I am not sure what other information would be useful. I do not have a multimeter.

Thank you for all your help, I've been floundering around trying to fix this myself and am a little out of my depth.

Most of the chances are of problem in Power Supply. If you can arrange another SMPS then replace the old one and then you will know that whether the problem is in SMPS or in mother board.

try shorting the power switch pins on the motherboard control panel could be a faulty power switch.
