Hi guys. I am planning on stripping out my old pc and basically rebuilding it. But I have never done this before, so I wanted to know what people think about it. I think they should all fit, but I wanted to doublecheck.
My old mother board is a microATX, and since I wanted to reuse the case, I thought about mentioning that.

    Motherboard: Gigabyte SKT-1155 H61M-S2PV Motherboard (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA...1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356656083&sr=1-5)

Processor: Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K CPU (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Gener...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356656171&sr=1-1)

(I dont care about the overclock feature btw.)

    GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX550Ti 1GB 192-Bit (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nvidia-GTX5...1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356656276&sr=1-2)

PSU: I have an old but very good 500w psu that I thought about reusing, though I am unsure if it will have enough power. Or should I buy a new one? I was thinking about (Powercool 750W 80+ Dual 12V V2.2 High Efficiency PSU - Black) (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Powercool-7...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1356656442&sr=1-1)

hard drive - 64 gb ssd/1 tera 7200 rpm harddrive

    Ram: orsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3

    Would all things go together?

Would you guys recommend the setting?

What I am going for is a budget gaming rig, but I will certainly not overclock, so i think a cheap motherboard should be ok.

    Thanks in advance.

Change the motherboard, an H61 motherboard on an unlocked i5 processors ~ it's just a waste on the processors overclocking ability. Not really sure as to your PSU since you didn't mention the model, but ~500w to 600w from a good manufacturer PSU is enough for a single card, a couple of HDD/SSD some fan and that processor. You might want to consider a newer generation of card, GTX 650 or GTX 650 Ti or HD 7770/6870.

First of all thank you for the replay.

Secondly, the motherboard issue. As I believe I said, I am not interested in overclocking really, the reason i consider that one is couse the difference between 3570k and 3570 was one pound. And since I am on a very tight budget, buying a 90 pound board will not really be an option, and overcloking with a cheap board, even if it advertises to be capable, is something I would consider twice.

IF however you know of one that is below 50 quids with the ability to overclock, that is also good quality, then I would of course be very happy to check it out.

    about the grapics card.
Yes, I am very much considering buying a different one myself. Maybe reusing the one I have for a few more months in the new build and then buying a better one when I have the money....

    Cheers :)

What graphics card do you currently have? Yeah that is great, for 1 pound that is a great deal. Get the 3570K and an H61 board is fine if you have no other option, you may need to update BIOS if it's not on the latest BIOS/supports ivy bridge to use the 3570k ivy bridge.. Depending on your current GPU and gaming needs, you can hold off the GPU for a while to get a better and more powerful one..

    Thanks a lot.
I had a question about the update though. Dont I have to be able to start a computer first, to be able to get to the bios menu, so that i can flush the bios? So can i start the system, even if the MB is not yet updated to run the ivy processor?

My graphic card is a very old radeon 9800, so I am not sure how long i can reuse it. But maybe a month or two will still go :) Anyways, the GPU is the least of the problems, as it can be updated etc at any given time without any hassle, so I am not really worried about that ... .

You see, the H61 only natively supports 2nd generation i5/i7/i3 processors, specifically the Sandy Bridge processors. Now the i5-3570k is an Ivy Bridge processor, even though the motherboard has the same socket, if its not on the latest BIOS that allows it to support Ivy Bridge you won't get the system to post. If you don't own a Sandy Bridge processor then you won't be able to post using the Ivy Bridge, also you can't update the motherboard if it won't post. So if you can find a Sandy Bridge processor and borrow it just to post and update, then good you can use that motherboard. If not then I'd recommend you switch to B75/H77 motherboards, supports 3rd gen and 2nd gen and is a lower-end motherboard and you can't overclock with it. Why don't you try other stores like Newegg, Landmark, NCIX, or Tigerdirect..

Thanks, you help out a lot. I guess I will have to wait a bit, and buy in month or two, when I am a bit more liquid :).

About the other stores, well maybe the fact that i talk about pounds was not a give away, but I am british, so cant really buy from the US, even if i could, the shipping would be so expensive, that it would make no sense. But even then, I find amazon to be the cheapest by far, (from the once i trust, i dont count shit like ebay).

Anyways, as i said, you were a great help.
    Cheers.
