dvd drive problem and internet

    Hiya guys,
    Just joined this site and wondered if anyone can help me with a problem i have?
    i have brought a new dvd drive for pc have installed it and for some reason when i have burned a cd or dvd or use a cd burning program i cannot connect to my internet account afterwards it just will not connect :( ,i have installed the aol software again and it still dosent work,the only way i can get back on internet again ,is if i reformat the whole pc from scratch :mad: then it works fine untill i use dvd drive again,anyone know whats going on here?
    i`m on windows 98 se, pentium 3.can anyone give me any advice as to how to setup my drives to avoid this happening as i am a novice any need help

    I'm not sure what could be causing such a strange problem! what software do you use to burn the software I think maybe the software might mess with some settings causing the internet not to work? Try using different software for burning.

    You say "it will not connect" are you on broadband or dialup? Do you get any error messages at all?

    you might want to try running ad aware or spybot, that sounds really strange.

    thanks for reply guys,i am using a dialup service to get onto aol,i have tried using different software for burning,but as soon as i use the dvd drive to burn i cannot connect again.
    i have also scanned for adware etc.... and found nothing so i guess its not that causing the problem.
    i do get a error message that says unable to connect at step 4 which is getting networks attention,apart from that i am stumped :confused:

    strange, have you tried recreating the account to see if it works, I don't see how its not letting the internet work.

    tried it but its still the same
