I have Shuttle MV43N motherboard and an Intel Celeron processor on 2GHz. When I installed components and tried to start the computer the damn thing didn't start. The next thing I did was to check where is the problem: motherpoard or CPU. So, I first tried CPU with some ASUS motherboard and it worked fine. Then I tried my motherboard with the Celeron on 1.7Ghz and it again worked fine. Motherboard and CPU are new and my mother tested them before I got it. They were working together. Can anyone help. (P.S. Returning them to the vendor is the last solution because they are bought in Switzerland)

Do any fans spin with the 2GHz chip in the system?

Both ATX adaptor fan and CPU fan starts. Also, there is disk activity when I turn on the computer. And I yhank that board works with Celeron @ 2Ghz because it's what is written in the manual.

How big is the power supply you're using?

I'm not sure but I think it's 300w, and I tried it on mine ATX adapter, and on friend's also. I was starting just motherboard and CPU, without any periferals, because the board has a built-in display adapter (first I tried with ATI XPert 2000 but it also didn't work).

Oh, I forgot about RAM. I tried first with 768MB of Apacer SDRAM (256+512). I also tried with my friend's memory.

I'd be suspcious if there isn't a sticker on the power supply stating it's wattage and the combined wattage of the 3.3 and 5V rails (it should be at least 180W, but bigger is better).

Another thing, if you haven't tried it is taking the motherboard out of the case and taking out all components. Clear CMOS. Try powering up the motherboard w/o any CPU, RAM, add-on cards, drives, etc. (all outside the case). If you get beeping from the motherboard, power the machine down, and add the CPU (and the heatsink!), power it on, and see if you get any beeps. Next add ram, power it up and see if you get any beeps or if it just sits there. Since you have 2 sticks of RAM, install one at a time and see how that goes. If you get trouble here, try rearranging the order of the sticks in the DIMM slots. Following that, add in your cards one by one. Then your drives. If everything checks out fine outside the case, you might want to make sure you're not shorting anything between the motherboard and the case when the system is installed in it.

Basically, we're playing a process of elimination game here. Sometimes certain cards don't sit well with certain motherboards and can be a pain to figure out.

No problem. I don't know what brands are available over there, but Asus is usually pretty good, even tho they can be a little more expensive than other brands. Abit, AOpen, MSI, Iwill, Tyan, and SuperMicro are all brands I'd also recommend. Just stay away from ECS and FIC.
