How much better is it than DDR2 or even DDR?
If the GPU runs at 400mhz or 550mhz, how much good does it really do to have ram running at 1000mhz? The cpu might run faster than that, but I don't imagine the data transfer from the cpu is that big of a factor.

On the contrary, CPU-RAM bandwidth has an impact on performance especially during data intensive operations like gaming.

GDDR is DDR with optimisations to help with graphic data.

I agree Ram is extremely important and isnt ddr3 the fastest ram on cards now

Yeah I think it is, the 7800GTX 512MB card has GDDR3 running at 1700MHz+ (I say + as some companies have overclocked it slightly on their overclocked brands of cards)

So whats the answer? Get the faster DDR3 128 MEG RAM or more 256 MEG RAM (but slower) - I Have an AMD 2GigHz processor.

I wpold think the 128 with ddr3 is better than 256 of ddr I personaly don't see much difference between 128 and 256 on a ddr cardso if ddr3 is on a gt card 128 should be better since ddr2 is a none gt card
