every time i boot my comp, the monitor never comes on, so i have to shutdown and boot it again and it works, however, in the last few days it wont come on at all, all the monitor will say is power saving mode. Also i just noticed that the lights and fan on the graphics card arent coming on. Could this be a power issue? The psu is 600W. Could the pcie slot be damaged?

The monitor is a LG flatron l1915s.
    AMD 64 x2 dual core 4400+
    1024mb corsair ram,
    msi k8n sli platinum mobo,
    bfg 6800gt,
    250gb seagate baraccuda,
    dvd dl drive,
    floppy.

Wattage means squat when it comes to PSUs, because the specifications are used to loosely. Its more important to provide the amperage really. What make/model of the PSU is it? It does sound like a PSU related issue.

Pc is working fine now, thanks for the reply, apparently it must have been a loose wire. :S

    Thanks.

That probably just confirmed my suspicions of a bad PSU. Please post the make/model.

If the problem occurs randomly like this, its almost certainly a sign of a dying PSU. Especially with a high end system like yours.

I had the same problem about 6 months ago. I moved some things around behind my computer and then after that it wouldnt turn on!?. all the leads were in, i checked inside the machine, all the power cables were connected. and i even ended up taking out the CPU to check if it had fried!?..

i spent a good 3 hours pulling things in and out!. until i thought by the off chance, maybe its the main power cord going to the PC?. so i grabbed the cord and twisted it constantly, and the voila!!. it turned on, then when i moved it again, it turned off!..

So in the end, i just had to buy a new power cord!. Something as simple as that!.

completely different problem, my pc turns on, the pc was fine, its just the g-card didnt. Anyway i solved the prob, it was the monitor connector to the pc, just needed to use a different lead.
