    Hello

I have just had a baby and have lots of pictures etc anyway I wanted to send a 4d scan and a picture of baby now to the company that did the scan, I decided to name the picture of baby which I did and usually always do with my pictures.

I now can't open it like I use to and it says it is now a file?

I use to click and I could preview the picture now it askes me what program do I want to open it in.

I also can't see the picture like all the others.

I named a few pictures to see if it happened again but it hasn't, have I pressed soemthing wrong for it to change like that?

I can't even email it to myself as I can't open it and it shows up all number and letters in notepad.

Help as I want my original photo back.

    Thanks
    Diane

First things first!.. CONGRATULATIONS on the new addition to your family!.. was it a boy or a girl!?. what is his or her name!?.. thats great news!!... im happy for you, even though i dont know you.

Now onto the pictures. Im quite certain this will work and its really pretty straight forward.

Im assuming that your using Windows XP. hopefully you are?

1#: Double click on the picture

2#: Choose " Select a program from a list " then press ok.

3#: Scroll down and select " Windows Picture and Fax Viewer "

4#: It should show the picture here. If it does, go to the next step.

5#: At the bottom of the picture viewer screen you will see an icon that looks like a small floppy disk. click on that ( 3rd down from the right )

6#: A box should come up. You may change the filename here if you like, but thats not why your here. At the bottom of this box you'll see an option that says " Save As Filetype ". Click on it.

7#: You will see a list of different picture compression formats. What you want to select here is " JPEG ". Click on JPEG.

    8#: Now press SAVE!.

And that should be it!!.. JPEG is the most widely used format for Photographs!..

Let me know if you have any problem!?... Good Luck.

Alternatively, you could have just right clicked on the file and selected rename,
    Then name the picture 'picture-name.jpg'.
