    Hi!

I got a dilema:eek:hah: . I was planning on buying a laptop (a Core Duo, yonah) arround March/April. But then:mad: , I read that Merom was comming in the second half of the year and i got a few questions.

1.- Is it a fact that Merom and Yonah will be pin-to-pin compatible???
2.- If the answer to n1 is Yes..... does that mean that I would be able to upgrade my Yonah with a 64 bit Merom for shure in the future???EDIT: Nothing else will be needed?
3.- Do you think it would be worth to wait??? I won't be using the lap for about a month in June. And right now this PC just does it fine (I'm still able to play COD2, Counter Strike, Fear, all of them at minimum of course)

Thanks for your attention, and sorry if my english is not perfect :):ff: :ff: :ff:

Dont worry, you have good english (you could beat me anyway!).

Generally speaking, laptops are not renowned for there upgrade-ability. You can change the memory, cpu, hard drive and disc drive. you cant really do anything else.

    Really, its a personal choice.

-Do you want the laptop now?

You could wait and get a laptop with a higher spec, but it will be expensive when its realeased. You could wait for the new one to be released, and then buy the origional for less.

If you dont need a Laptop, dont buy one! If you just want a laptop to be able to go on the internet from the sofa, get a Desktop computer and plug it into the TV! (and use a wireless keyboard and trackerball mouse)!

Desktop computers are cheaper and completely upgrade-able! you also have a larger choice of components and you can build it yourself, and save a fair amount of cash! [or build a more powerfull computer for the same amount of cash]

Sorry if that post reads funny, i have tried to avoid abreveations to make it easyer to read (english might be me first language, but it doesnt mean that i am any good at it!)

Impotence is right, your english is very good:) If I were you I'd wait for the Merom. The wait will not be much longer and it should stay current for quite some time. I do belive the socket type with be the same but in most cases you really can't upgrade the cpu in a laptop. Harddrive and ram are about as far as you'll go in most cases I'm afraid. It's worth the wait to get that extra performance that will last you longer.

Yea... I think I'll wait for Merom because if i bought Yonah I would feel like buying the pre-beta version of Merom or something like that. Thanks!

What is the Merom supposed to be like? Fasters speeds and longer battery? I had this same question also.

Yeah pretty much, it's dual core so that will be a bit bit boost in mobile computing but otherwise its just a major update to Intel's mobility line.
