i need help in choosing a laptop my sister needs it for university

she wants to spend around 700$ the max she can spend is 800$

she only needs a laptop for school stuff and maybe to burn cd's and listen to music and internet

she needs the laptop to be wireless so she can go to the library and connect to the internet from there.

it would be nice if it could be integrated instead of the wireless card in case she unplugs the card or something like that. she lives on boston so i could not help her out if that was the case

could you guys give some recomendations?
    thanks:)

I'd look for a mobile CPU such as the Centrino, as you'll get more battery life. I've used a few HP notebooks and I think they're good buys, most come with integrated 802.11G wireless connectivity. Also check that the notebook you choose has enough USB ports for your peripherals. I think you can get some gateway and acer notebooks for cheap too.

Yeah, HP's are pretty good. I've been pretty impressed by what I've seen with what my brother has and what my fiancee uses.

The other choice would be Dell, as, despite all the bashings the company gets, if I had to buy a PC, they'd be a contender.

First off i'd like to say Hi being new to the Forums and all.
I currently am using a DELL Isnspirion 5150 for when I am on the road,

I think dell has some of the best customer service out there (when you speak to an English speaking tech ^_^ )
Using the 5150Model as the base w/ a few upgrade options I ended up spending slightly over 1,000 on the system but that's only b/c i went with an upgraded processor (P4 3.5 w/ HT) RAM (512MB) and Graphice (64MB GeForce Fx 5200) I am a gamer or at least I try.
I could imagine that using a base model and configuring it to fit your sister and your budget, Dell would be a good buy
