Hey, I have a Unika Computer, with an ECS Elitegroup P6BAT-Me motherboard, and when I turn the machine on, I get nothing, but beeps. The fan on the CPU engages, then turns back off, and I get no display on the monitor. Any idea as to why this may be? I have checked, and all the jumpers are in their correct position on the motherboard.

    Cheers, Matt.

Firts you could try clearing the BIOS and failing that, telling us the seqeunce of beeps and your BIOS version and brand.

The motherboard shuts off shortly after the beeping, right?

If that's the case, make sure the heatsink is installed properly and that you have some thermal paste between the CPU core an the heatsink, preferrably a paper-thin layer.

Actually, I can't find that out, because I have a Slot 1 PIII processor, and has not been modified since I first bought the computer, around 5 1/2 years ago. I'm not sure that the whole motherboard shuts off after the first beep, but, the beepeing is persistent, and separated by about 2 seconds between each beep.

Okay, make sure your RAM is fully inserted into the slot(s).

    I own a similar motherboard - the ECS P6BAT-A+.
Constant long beeps could mean a memory failure, wrong memory installed or no memory detected.
But it doesn't explain why your computer shuts itself off.

What were you doing around the time the computer failed? Were you adding new hardware? Were you taking the computer apart?

its one beep, fairly long, then a gap, the same beep, same length, same length pause.

Nothing, I turned it on, and it just beeped. as described in the original post. It worked fine before...

before that you may want to try removeing and reinserting RAM, graphics card, proccesor and see if it works after removeing and reinserting each item
