    Hi there,

    can anyone help?

I've got a biantone adsl 500 modem which i first had installed in my old pc, at first with windows 98 and then with xp service pack 1.

I've just bought a new pc which is running xp professional service pack 2 and it won't let me install even the latest drivers from the binatone website.

I think even the latest binatone drivers are designed to work with xp service pack 1??

I'd be very greatful for any help.

    Hi there,

my problem is that windows won't let me install the drivers.

It basically tells me that installation failed because the version of windows i've got is unable to install the drivers correctly.

Temporarily disable the Windows filewall and then try to install the drivers?

    Any good?

    No?

Okay, right click the driver (asumming it's a executable) and select properties. Run the program in compatibility mode, say Windows 2000 or 98

If none of the above work, you could try:

Right Click "My Computer", select "Properties" go to the "Hardware" tab, select "Device Manager" find your ADSL modem and right click and choose "Update Driver" then follow the wizard and identify the drivers for windoze.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the advice guys,

finally got the crappy cheap ass modem working.

Just in case anyone else reading this has the same problem.....what you got to do is the following:

don't plug in the modem......stick your installation cd in and follow the instructions......at a certain point....you'll be asked to connect your modem....do so....as soon as you connect the modem you'll see the windows hardware wizard pop up.....at this point you completely ignore the installation cd.....do not even close it down or click on it as this will mess up the installation......and you carry on the installation using the windows "found new hardware" tool.

I got this info from the support guys at Binatone and i installed the modem in under 5 minutes.

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarggghhh!!!!!!

Hope this is of help to someone.
