I just got bf2 and i installed it with no problems but now when i try and play it, the menu pops up, i click start now and it goes to a black screen, flashes and then closes and this happens every time so if anyone could get me an idea on how to fix it...thanx
Sounds familiar to problem I had where it would play fine single player, but even clicking "Multiplayer" would crash it straight to desktop with no errors at all. Uninstalling and reinstalling helped fix it for me.
Yeah, it crashes right to the desktop with no errors at all but it happens when i click single player or multiplayer o and i have reinstalled several times becuase normally seems to fix problems i have with games but i have not downloaded to patch yet....would that have sometime to do with it, the reason i have not it becuase of its massive size and i have dial-up.
SexiMexi im looking at your specs and it says you have a GeForce 3 TI 200. This card is not supported by BF2. GeForce 4's dont even play it. BF2 requires a minimum of 128mb of video memory and a card that supports Pixel Shader Version 1.4. Officially, the minimum cards that will play it are the Radeon 9500 or GeForce FX 5700 Series. But these cards wont do a very good job at it.
well ya see the thing about my Vid. Card is not true beucase my friend has one that is a little bit better than mine and it works on his comp but he does have cable so that might be it but i know its not my vid card but i am getting wireless DSL soon so i hope i will be able to play it soon
The thing about your graphics card is true, BF2 will not work old cards like that. BAttlefield 2 needs pixel shader 1.4 something the the Geforce 3's & 4's dont have. Here is the list of supported cards at the time of the games launch: - Video Cards Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards: Radeon X700 (PCIe) Radeon X600 (PCIe) GeForce 6600 (PCIe) GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe) GeForce 5800 Series (AGP) ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition ATI Radeon X800 PRO ATI Radeon 9800 Series ATI Radeon 9600 Series ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX) ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series ATI Radeon 8500 Series ATI Radeon X300 Series NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra NVidia GeForce 6800 GT NVidia GeForce 6800 NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series System Requirements - Planet Battlefield
Well thats funny because my friend does not have anyone of those vid. cards and he can run BF2 hmmmm. i wonder whats up with that?
i had the same problem but by right clicking the desktop icon and changed the compatability setting to run as admin worked for me
