Is there some way to take a game that is spread out onto multiple CD's, and just put it on one DVD? The game I'm specifically trying to do this for is Unreal Tournament 2004.

sorry, but i don't think it is possible, i think the software looks at the disc label to varify which disc is inserted, there may be a way to emulate multiple labels, but i'm not aware of any tool that do that, but i could be wrong, wait for more replys

Edit: looked at Unreal Tournament and there are no .iso images to download, but if you login you may be able to find some

I know people did this with Doom 3. Unfortunately, I don't have it linked. I thought I saw it over at [H]ard|Forums, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that correctly.

I suppose you could put the iso files of the cds on the dvd then mount them on a virtual drive one at a time. Ive never tried to do what your asking but have always wondered if it was possible.

interesting theory, wouldn't you have to unmount the currently mounted/virtual CD before mounting the next disc (so UT 2k4 would know where the data is for the next CD) ?

Yes, you can do that, and I've done all of these methods in the past. The reason why I ask is just so I won't have to whip out all the discs just to install one game, I find it a bit inconvienient, and it'd be nice to have a backup of it on just one disc.

What I've done so far is that I've made an image of all the installation discs, then extracted each. I slammed them all in a single folder and tried to install it that way. It worked without a hitch. It didn't ask for the next disc the series. I figured it'd work because the files on each disc aren't compressed as one cabinet file or anything... It's all the textures, materials, and resources laid out among each of the discs. So I thought that maybe the install only just has a hash file of all the files that belong to that installation, (sort of like a torrent)... And once it can't find the next file, it'll ask for the next disc. Previously, the game required me to have the play disc in the drive... Now it seems it doesn't.

The next step would be me trying to burn it all on a DVD. I'll post results when I do.

Sorry for not posting about this earlier, (months late ^^; )...

I tried putting all the files on one disc: it worked.

    For UT2004, at least. :D

wait a min, so if you put all of the contents of like the 6 or so discs that come with ut2k4 onto a dvd, it acts as a dvd, thats really usefull, i allready have the dvd version though, maybe you might also be able to stick some mods on there for ut2k4 too, i know mine came with mods, but it was mod installer or something.
