Dumping memory - boo hoo hoo

    Hi guys!

    I built my first PC (with your help) a few months ago and its been working fine since then. I've only been using it for gaming currently and havn't even had it hooked up to the net but a few days ago problems started.

    My longterm method of resolving those problems was to wipe the harddrive. I did a slow format today and re-installed windows. Everything was going fine until the blue screen of death appeared saying:

    "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your soft/hardware manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

    If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode then .......blah blah blah.

    TECH INFO ***STOP0x00000050 (0xA63EDED4, 0x00000001) etc

    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete"

    At this point, I cry. Its done this a few times. Prior to doing the full format a RUNDLL error kept popping up saying there was an error loading streamci.dll, specified module could not be found.

    I can't understand how this could be a software issue because I've done a full wipe. But if it IS hardware then what??

    Any clues, questions or advice is MUCH appreciated.

    This might help with that BSOD.

    I'd also snag [google]Memtest[/google] and run that for a few hours. You have your choice of a CD or Floppy version which you can boot off of.

    I found this microsoft article that might help you. Microsoft Corporation

    From what I can tell, it saying it could be faulty or improperly seated RAM, a corrupt NTFS file system, antivirus software, or a buggy system service that needs to be turned off. I hope this helps :)

    I e-mailed memtest the following info but if anyone has feedback or anything else to add then much appreciated. Both suggestions lead down the path of bad RAM so I'm gonna make more enquires with that in mind. Cheers guys.

    Hi guys. I recently ran Memtest and found over 500 errors at 5% which according to their FAQ section would mean its time to replace them.

    i) I've had the RAM for just under a year, should it be going bad so soon??

    ii) I'm assuming that would be normal grounds to claim via the standard warrenty that comes with these parts?

    Memtest replied super fast saying it could well be another issue such as m-board overheating (unlikley, I've 2 additional case fans and lots of space around the m-board). A friend reccommended that the hard drive might be faulty (have holes in it?) which is what you guys were indicating as well via the MS website.


    Any more suggestions/advice?

    Yup! thats true if you want you computer to be working again...
    Not actually...My computers ram is working from last 5 years and I never have had any problems yet... Its like manufacturing defect if its fallen bad ...
    Btw, I've seen some companies give whole life warranty on RAM so it means RAM never dies unless your fault...
