My new PC has about 1gig of RAM and my old pc had 256mb. The RAM is compatible so would it be possible to just stick the RAM from the old PC into the new one to make it a bit more.

yeah, there should be no problem (if they are both the same type and speed of RAM) you could download PCWizard to check the type of RAM you are using

BTW: if you dont have an anti-static wrist strap you MUST touch an exposed metal part of your system case every minute of so - to discharge yourself of static

    Hi donkey42 and matttib.

I don't know if it relates to the age of the machine but on our older one I just stuck some RAM in that has a different amount on it and it works fine. Like I say though, it's an older machine.

I've never used a wrist strap and sometimes forgot to earth myself and so far, no problems although donkey42 I agree with you mate, I've probably just been lucky. Or carefull. Or both!

Argh... As long as you are holding ur RAM stick from the sides and not touching the chips, its fine. Also, if you are touching the chips then it doesnt mean that your RAM will die definately coz u might not have sufficient static energy in ur body to kill the RAM...
