I need to get a heatsink for a friend's 3400+ Socket 939, he's got a Abit AV8 motherboard, 2gig ram, 500watt aspire PS, No heatsink. He's pretty much outta money so, need one that's pretty good priced. Any suggestions?

Basically anything from Thermalright which fits his budget.

The ultimate beast is of course the XP-120, but it's expensive and comes with no fan.

I tried thermaltake once but was disapointed, so I can't really recommend them.

The XP-120 is one hell of a big heatsink. Zalman ones seem ok and the Zalman CNPS7000(A/B)-AlCu looks ok but its pretty expensive. Might be cheaper in the US (like everything else).

Ninja, i have the same motherboard and the XP-120 WILL NOT fit on it if u dont use Dimm1.. which off course you need :D

As i said i have an Abit AV8 3RD EYE i've ordered an Artic Cooler Freezer 64, which cost me £23 and is a great cooler, I was going to order a Zalman 7700ALCU - which is also a very good cooler, whilst being very quiet.. but the artic cooler offers the same cooling, at the same noise levels for about £15 less $30.. and.. u dont have to remove the motherboard to install it. :D
