the gigabyte motherboard i am getting seemd to have alot of overclocking settings on :\

but with the new cpu and motherboard, how high would i have to overclock on my current pc so that i would get the same amount of performance i will get iwth the 3500+ and new motherboard?

Yeah it's hard to say what speed you would need to overclock your current CPU to to get the same performance as the 2 CPU's are totally different, you could only guess without actually overclocking and then benchmarking.
