    just 2 say.. happy b-day 2 Big-B :D

    onto post...

i used 2 be able to play DVD movies and use autoplay on my dvd drive.. for some reason now it doesnt work.. its been like this for about 11 months.. never really been bothered.. but i have been given over 85 dvd's all relatively new and good movies..

and its a pain in the arse that i cant watch them.

i have a NEC 1600/1500A 16x.. i'm at college.. not sure if this is right..

it plays dvd's incredibly slowly.. the sound lags.. and the video lags for minimum 10 seconds at a time.. my pc has not had any problems watching mpegs / divx / vcd e.t.c

and my cd-rw is absolutely fine..

could it be i have faulty ide cable? that are causing the problem..

The drive could be going bad too, but it could also just have a dirty lens, and that can be fixed with a cleaner disc which run for about $10 or so.
