A new version of Firefox is available, on Windows Firefox should be able to automatically download the updates and install them.

    Download it here.

This release contains several security fixes and improvements to stability.

It's nice to see that they continue developing it and fixing bugs. :ff:

As Firefox gains more popularity, it's inevitable that hackers will start taking notice and produce malicious code that takes advantages of undiscovered flaws.

As well as the trojan that pretends to be a Firefox extension, there have been some other serious flaws discovered in the browser over the last week. To Mozilla's credit, I applaud the way they have handled the situation. Unlike Microsoft, they have quickly patched the holes and released them as an automatic update to Firefox users.

So although the situation might get worse for Firefox users, I can rest assured that Mozilla are on top of things.

Now if only Opera had an automatic update feature......

    Does Firefox update automtically?
Ive got 1.5.06 but haven't done anything to Firefox since I installed it on the 9th July.

EDIT: It does, but obviously doesnt say when it is finished.

Firefox does update automatically, you may get a message telling you that Firefox will install updates after you restart it (Firefox not the OS)

Yes, also some software like the Google desktop suite can update certain software for you, including Firefox, in much the same way as Windows auto-update.
