In a nutshell: *XFX HD5770 idling at 50C, FurMark 103C (within first minute, killed after that), fan won't go beyond 60%; WTF? The whole blabber...: Since I built my new system at the beginning of this year, I have not really checked the temperatures of the CPU and GPU, but since it has turned out to be a quite warm summer this year around here, I thought, I ought to see what's what. The CPU runs just the way it's supposed to - y with the stock coller, anyway - but my XFX HD5770 is kinda hot. And by that I mean - I could boil water on it. 100+C on FurMark. Half of that on idle. While the benchmark ran, the cooler didn't bother to run much faster than 60%. Manual fan control in the CCC is off - everything's set to stock: discovered that the ATI Overdrive was on (due to XFX mild overcklocking? I don't really know...) and disabled that, too. 1. Why was Overdrive on? 2. Why doesn't the fan spin faster even when it's ass is on fire? Oh, yeah - no stability issues nor there are any problems with booting or artifacts.
