Hi. I'm new and I hope you can help me.

I'm thinking on upgrading my pc and I have almost decided I'm getting a 970 mobo and a fx 6300 processor. The problem is I can't purchase both simultaneously so I will purchase 1 first and then the other part.

I currently have an athlon ii x2 250 (am3) and I was wondering if I could buy the mobo (which is am3+) and install my athlon on it (and everything else too, like the gpu, ram, etc) but I was wondering if it's compatible and won't generate problems considering how old the athlon is. Then after installing everything on the new mobo, buy the cpu when I can and replace it.

Is that possible or would there be problems? Thanks in advance.

Athlon II X2 250 works fine with almost every AM3+ motherboard.

    So yes.
