    Because we use it in french too, but it's written this way: blague.

    Anyways, I wouldn't make that kind of joke, just to make sure absolutely no one thinks I've ever done that !

    yeah that'S what it means here too.

    as for the topic, apparently it's not true. The guy in question told that on a radio station and asked his girlfriend to play his mother on the air or something like that.
