i am building a new computer soon and this motherboard has GEAR on it and it looks exactly like a agp slot http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-8I915P Duo-A.htm# if so plz tell me because i would like to get the 6800 on newegg but they dont have the 6800 for pci express :chk:
Like I said on AIM, it's basically a fake AGP slot. Just going by the speculation, it's probably some rigged up PCI slot, since AGP is just a fast PCI slot with it's own bus. With the drive to PCIe, they might be thinking that it'd be fine since most PCI slots the average user has aren't high-bandwith devices. Gigabit NICs and some storage controller could cause a problem, but with the storage options on that board, I find it hard to believe that this is going to affect many people. Of course, without a review on it out at the moment, I can't say how well that slot works.
