halen. Page just had nice melodies while halen had speed consistency and could shred the pants off crowds lol
joe satriani rocks. He plays some mas songs that half the time dnt even sound like his plaing a guitar
yea i hav like a million of satriani's cds haha hes reli awesome, and hendrix too, but im just askin life and death whos better haha
IMHO, Satriani picked up where Hendrix left off, so of course he's better in many ways. It's still subjective though, since Hendrix was in all rights the father of Satch's whole style.

Hi 01bolandn, Here you go...there's more... http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_newguitar.html 100 Greatest Rock Guitarists
Yeah, that list is actually put together pretty good. Except that I hate Steve Vai! Eric Clapton is awesome though... and I think Phil Keagy should've been higher on the list. In an interview, someone said to Eric "What's it like to be the greatest guitarist" and he replied "I dont know, you should ask Phil Keagy." I thought that was cool. Yeah... so there's my 1.3 cents.
I absolutely hate those "Top xxx of all time!!1one" lists. I mean, I have personally jammed with guitarists better than half on the list. I find the notion of Hendrix being #1 while Pete Townsend is 54 outright offensive. Besides this, the whole topic is really subjective, since out of 200 guitarists, about 200 styles are represented. It's more of a popularity contest than anything. My $0.50 (that's two gumballs, folks!)
OK, I just looked the list over again, and Paco De Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin are all absent from the list. Three of the best guitarists of our age. :x: Not even Andrés Segovia, the undisputed father of the modern classical guitar. For goodness' sake, most of the guitarists on the list are rock guitarists, and they left Les Paul off it! :swear: **Anti-Trend deletes thread with extreme prejudice**
AT it's a Rock list...what would a classical guitarist be doing in a rock list! But ya I agree that lists are very dependant on personal tastes...but I liked the fact of having the names and associated bands they played with in a list, just for that sake alone it is nice to have. I don't agree with all the standings either and I think more blues guitarists should have been included but as far as lists go it's a good reference piece to have if you like guitarists! Personally I would love to have a list of every artist from 1962-1972 and members and what bands they went to, started, or performed with.
I also didn't see BB King on that list. That guy can play and make it look completely effortless and natural. I've been to a few concerts, but BB King is such a great guitarist, it's not even funny. Mike Eizenger is another great guitarist, especially if you listen to Incubus first disc: Fungus Amongus. Brian Setzer is another good guitarist that made it on the list. I think they should've put in John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls. I can't see them coming back any more, but he seems to be a solid modern guitarist. Where's Billy Corgan and James Iha? Well, at least they didn't have Kurt Cobain on there (he's not that great of a guitarist, sorry folks, Nirvana sucked)... okay, my rant's done.
Ok Big B...I'm going to make you happy...B.B.King just for you...and AT you're no.1... All Time Greatest Guitarists Of Any Genres 1. Andres Segovia 2. Django Reinhardt 3. Jimi Hendrix 4.
