Yes. I haven't found a worthy article lately. Until now, dun dun DUN! How about news of a way to ues quantum mechanics to change molecules, yes molecues(tiny huh?) into working transistors. Tiny. Thank you University of Arizona http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,67769,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_1
Very interesting. We're pushing the laws of physics even with increasing clockspeed and smaller transistors. To obey Moore's law chip manufacturers are having to resort to TLP to keep up. Lithography technqiues are also being pushed. If this ever becomes possible then imagine the performance leap!
If this is possible, not only will single threaded performance take a huge boost, multi-core will be much easier. Lower heat output would make it much easier to cool. But its still a few years away.
early transistors, think of them as the United states. Then think of recent processors, and the transistors have been shrunk down to bathtubs. Now think of them being mere penny size, or smaller.
