I had a problem with my onboard audio so I bought a cheap PCI sound card. It plays noise from my games and everything else just not my music. When I try to play it I get a orange exclamation point next to the music. The odd thing about it is before when I had onboard sound issues and I tryed to play music media player would at least say that the music was playing even though there wasnt any sound. I have disabled MIDI and enabled it to 300. I dont know anything about MIDI or what it even stands for so if anyone cant help me as far as the problem goes maybe they can educate me about MIDI. thx
i did know what MIDI stands for but i can't remember (as usual) in volume control is MIDI not muted and turned up ? sorry, just reread what you posted, will post back soon EDIT: where exactly is the exclamation point (a screen shot would be appriceated)
[link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midi]For MIDI Explanation[/link] About Exclamatery sign, check that you have changed or moved some music........or alternatively try your music in any other player like winamp etc..
The ! is located to the left of the song title. And what do you mean by what kind of music? O and media player doesnt play and cd's that I put into my cd drive either.
sry i took me so long to post winamp does work and double clicking on the source file also works. wut does this mean?
delete all the files in win media player and do another search of your computer and it should play. the exclamation sign is a sign meaning it could not find the specified fiel.
oh my bad.... wat's wrong? MIDI is the format used for instruments that are connected to the computer. also used for audio creation.
ok... does it do this. you click on one song, then suddenly, all the other songs produce orange exclamation marks one after the other, if it does, search your computer again.
I have searched the computer multilple times but still no music. Now im getting an error message that says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

Edit: Check in your device manager, if there is any yellow exclamatery sign in front of sound there?
