I want to max out my current board, (ASUS A8N-SLI), with the best CPU for Socket 939. Apparently, AMD has cut the FX-60's from the 939 line so the only place I can probably find them is on eBay.

What I want to know is...

Should I buy an Opteron 185 from NewEgg or search for an FX-60 on eBay?

    I currently have an X2 4200+.

Depends if you want to overclock .

If you dont want to overclock then go for the opty 185.
185's are not good overclockers but some people have got theirs to 2.8+
However the opty 165 + 170 are very good overclockers with a lot of people hitting 3g
Its something to do with the stepping on the 185 which holds it back

If you do want to overclock the fx60 has a unlocked multiplier so would be great for overclocking.

As for value for money you've got to go for the opty 185.
(Which is exactly what i have done on my A8N-SLI Premuim)

There is really no need to overclock the 185 at all, its fast enough @2.6 (same as the stock FX60)
