Willz, What filesystem was on that partition?

Try to get a program which can repair it, otherwise it might be curtains!

Ive never needed to repair a partition other than with ext2, in which case it does it itself upon periodic checks.

Try knoppix, you might be able to access it with that. 250gb is a hell of a lot to backup though! How everyone seems to fill these bloody big drives is a mystery to me!

Just think about it, how can you quickly fill a big drive up lol, there are lots of ways.

Ok.. well i think i might back it up, install windows on a 20gb hdd, wipe my 160gb hdd, go to my neighbours taker the 80gb hdd out of there comp, bring it to mine, back all my data to the 80gb and 160gb, i dont think my meighbour will mind, then i can format my 250gb.

    It's NTFS.

Knoppix, aint that another type of linux? i like Kubutnu.

Wow thats a lot of porn pics!

Knoppix is linux which boots from a cd rom. Its a liveCD.

You never know, you might be able to view the drive from linux. You might be able to this from kubuntu but I dont know if kubuntu supports ntfs cos ive never tried it.

Have you tried that SMART report program yet? You never know the whole drive could be dead, SMART will tell you how dead it is.

I don't think the drive is dead, i can access all the date on it when in Windows XP. I think Kubuntu can read NTFS file systems, as i have been able to browse my Windows XP installation.
