question about RAM

    hi i just bought a PNY 400mhz 512Mb of ram and am now gonna buy a samsung 400Mhz 512 Mb of ram both of these are DDr but i was wandering is it ok if i have 2 makes and does it matter which slot i put it in?

    You shouldnt have any trouble with compatibility!
    Note-When installing RAM always install Largest and Fastest in DIMM 1 then smaller and slower DIMM 2 etc....
    EG:512MB DDR400 in DIMM 1, 256MB DDR333 in DIMM 2!

    even thru that you should know your memory speed will drop down to the 333mhz as a default and you wont be abl to put it on dual channel

    nvm they're 2 400mhz everything should go good :good:

    You need 2 identical sticks of RAM preferably as you can then run them in dual channel which should give a performance boost.

    Yup. That's the one thing with running dual-channel: matching sticks of RAM for best results.

    Now, this is assuming your motherboard supports dual-channel DDR. If not, it won't matter if you have two sticks or not.
