    Hello :)
My lappy is a Sony Vaio AW31N
Bought it reconditioned maybe 2 years ago and has been running perfectly.

    Then, the HDD failed.
Being cheap, I bought a reconditioned HDD, replaced the dead one.
That lasted a windows install, plus a few hours, then froze up.
Scanning the HDD took days , so many bad sectors ..and I decided that I'd been too cheap in buying a recon.

So, a brand new HDD, reinstall windows, and about 2 weeks of good running - before that (3rd) HDD also failed.

By this time, I'm feeling stupid and quite a bit deflated in the wallet.

So, off to the local PC Repair shop.
Just heard back today, they've tested the machine for power anomalies, tested the motherboard .. and blah .. I get lost on hardware - I'm a software chap !

The shop's take on it, is that they can't find any reason not to put a new HDD in the machine and get going again.
From my point of view, this machine has eaten 3 HDDs.
Ok, so the orignal HDD might have been just the natural end of it's life.
The recon, might have been a bad recon.
But the brand new HDD failed as well ?
Too many coincidences for my liking.

Any suggestions on how to move forward ?
I'd really like to keep this machine if I can, I like it.
But without finding a confirmed cause to all my failures .... I'm reluctant to risk not just the money, but the time in installing, configuring and thn working on ... only to have it all sink again.

    Any comments welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks
    Simon
