I reformatted my computer a few months ago,and the secondary ide controller isnt working.I want to use this controller for a cdrom drive, but cannot make it work.I tried using the cdrom drive on the primary controller with the hard drive, but then it does not recognize the hard drive. It says not all the proper drivers were installed, but they're not on the windows 98 se disk.I was wondering how to fix this. Please help.

Probably need to install the drivers for the chipset, specifically the IDE driver. It should be with the motherboard's driver CD.

Is the secondary ide controller recognized by the BIOS ?
If so, it's probably a driver issue as Big-B mentionned.

If not, then try to set your drives manually in the BIOS.

I know you seem to have no choice right now, but when you do have the choice, NEVER use a cd-rom on the same controller as the hdd because it will slow down the hdd, thus, your whole system.
