I got a Sony 32X cd burner about a year ago. I have tried using Nero and Roxio Easy CD Creator but I still get painfully slow burn times at 32X. Roughly 16-20min to burn a full cd. Are sony burners just crap or does anyone have any ideas. This happens no matter what brand of cdr i use. The burner is setup as slave on my secondary ide cable with a dvdrom as the master.

    Athlon 1.4
    Gigabyte Mobo Via
    512mb pc133 ram
    300w power supply.
    Maxtor 60gig 7200rpm
    Win XP Pro

    Thanks

Try making the CD burner the master and the DVD-ROM the slave. Burners tend to like to be master rather than slave, so try that and see if the issue doesn't go away. :)
