My p/c is really slow for some reason (also drop in games frame-rate)
I ave not chaged any settings/hardware/drivers
I ave even done the dreaded "Format C:" ... still the same !!
I am totaly confused on what could cause this ????
I have tried newest drivers/older drivers for all components with no luck

    Athlon XP 2500+ (barton)
    gForce4 ti4200
    1 gig ddr "333"
    80 Gig Maxtor DM9
    VIA kt3 chipset

    Anyone ?????

Well i dont see any problems with your mobo but it could as simlpe as overheating, or lingering virus, faulty graphics card, its very hard to say.

Graphics card is 2 years old , never had any issues with it.
CPU / Mobo temps are normal ?!?!?

Your processor isn't particularly high end, by todays standards, so that could well be the problem of slowdown.

Overheating, temperatures, or the graphics card won't effect the speed of the PC. Your ram may also be bottlenecking the CPU/or vice veresa

if you get some pc3200 or ddr 400 ram, and a new heatsink/fan you should be able to overclock your 2500+ to a 3200+.

What are yous on about that board doesnt even support DDR400, and yes that CPU isnt the best but its perfectly acceptable and who said anything about overclocking?
I dont see why everything revolves around overclocking! CPU's are fast enough without having to shorten their lives!
I dont mean to sound like a D***head but thats the way i think!

This is a long shot but the heatsink on your CPU or GPU might have come loose which could be causing the slowdown. This happened to me once with my old palomino 1200 which fryed it completely!

Is it games running slow , boot process slow , internet slow ? If your playing new games that 4200 will be starting to struggle now ! Calcification (filth) on your fan blades , thats what i had a while ago and it turned my pc into an oap ! Till i cleaned it !

    a men

Some of your vids cards ram may have fried when you formatted your HD did you just install the game and needed drivers then test it? Could be a program or to many things running. Usually when gaming i used a stripped OS partition meaning just the needs and games. Some services shutdown ect...
