Hi, This morning,my pc would't turn on.I tried various plugs and they all worked fine,so i opened up my pc,as i suspected a broken PSU. However first,i checked the wires, one was loose. It seems to be coming out of the hard drive,it is black with a small white box at the top. So where does it go? i could't find the slot. Thanks
The hard drive power lead has red/black and yellow..It will have 4 pins, Is this what you see? If the computer just won't turn on at all,and nothing lights up,then it is your power supply. If you are talking about a wire on top of the hard drive that came off , then you have some problems. Most hard drives are sealed,But not all,and i have seen one of those wires comming apart.
ok it has 6 pins:x: ,so and ideas what that could be?,i hope its not a PSU problem ,a decent one is about £60,i cnt afford that!!
ok here is all i could find. The black wire come out of the bottom right of the pc,and hangs loose. Its black, with a small white box at the top,the top of this box has small holes in it,and if you look on the side you can see 6 pins.
Sadly no,thats not it I did this quick diagram on paint,so its not great, but it might give a few ideas
how about this one go to google and select images and type in what you thing it is and google will bring up loads of images to look at the just tell us what the connector is
that's a usb cable the one in the bottom with a black head. this is not necessary for any powering up things just the usb ports in the fron tof the pc
Does the computer work without it ? I don't think that plugin is used. Thats if it is a 6 pin.. I see that it goes to your power supply.. This is a newer power supply, And allot of newer power supplys has extra plug ends,, This 6 pin you are talking about,It does go to the power supply right. If so then unplug it and try to start computer without it.
ok,so is USB?,thats what i though because it come out of the usb port, and that one never worked. So any other ideas what it could be ,PSU? Thanks guys!
