I was browsing TigerDirect for something totally unrelated when I noticed that they had some great deals on video cards. I will be graduating in 3 days so money flow will be coming in from family so extra money will definitely be in the old wallet. I figured why not upgrade my stuff. In usual fashion, not shooting for something totally expensive and I have found two video cards.

Nvidia 8800 GT- XFX GeForce 8800 GT Video Card - Alpha Dog Edition, FREE Company of Heroes PC Game, 512MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, HDCP, Video Card PVT88PYDF4 at TigerDirect.com

I first found that, but then stumbled upon a card I think completely blows the 8800 GT out of the water for the exact same price.

ATI Radeon HD 3870- Diamond Radeon HD 3870 Video Card - 512MB GDDR4, PCI Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, HDMI Support, Full 1080p, Video Card 3870PE4512SB at TigerDirect.com

Just looking at the numbers, the ATI seems a heck of a lot better. But I have learned sometimes numbers aren't always correct or the best thing to go by. I made a post just to see what everyone thinks. Which should I get?

UPDATE: I had some people say the Nvidia is a better choice than the ATI. If I am better off getting the Nvidia, then I will just go ahead and buy this: XFX GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - Alpha Dog Edition, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare PC Game, 512MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card PVT88GYDF4 at TigerDirect.com

Think the GTS is better than the GT enough to justify an extra $50?

Get the GTS if you Can But if you're really tight on cash, the GT is only minimaly less powerful

I'd get the GT instead and save the extra $$. You can OC the GT so it'll be close to that of a GTS, I said close.

    here
    here

I'm getting this Gigabyte it comes OC'd @ 700mhz and it will do 760mhz here
    same
or just leave it stock @ 700mhz

    ymmv :D

The 3870 does not blow the 8800GT out of the water, infact the 8800GT is faster than it in most titles.

Get a stock clocked 8800GT or GTS, they all will overclock quite well, but I;d wait, GT260/280 and 4870/50 aint far around the corner and will push prices down.
