ok so I've just passed my old computer down to my brother and built myself a new pc the build is as follows (processor, MoBo, and ram were all in an overclocker uk bundle pack) :

    Krypton Z68 590i Intel Core i5 3.3 @4.4
    Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 intel Z68 (scocket 1155) DDR Motherboard
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti Twin FrozR II OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express graphics card
2 1TB Hard drives (from old pc)
    Artic 700W PSU
    3 case fans

So this build, after much checking that it would all work together, was bought it all booted up fine and windows 7 (obtained from MSDN) was installed and it all seemed to be working, I then left it for about 20 minutes and upon my return the screen had gone black. At first I assumes it had just gone to sleep so I pressed a few button on the keyboard, this cause the fans which had stopped (un-noticed until this point)to whir briefly back to life and then stop again, it also did not cause the screen to light up.

So I turn it off at the power checked all the connections and tried again nothing happened at all the fans powered up and spun normally but nothing was displayed on the monitor. I then checked the graphics card believing that to be the problem, by plugging it in to the old computer, the graphics card did indeed work on the other computer.

After reading through a few forum posts I then thought I might be overloading the PSU with too many fans (3 case fans) this was unlikly as the PSU should be putting out 700W, but I unplugged all the fans and tried again, still nothing, however with out the noise of the fans I was able to hear the hard drives whiring.

I think the issue is likely the motherboard but I don't want it to be as this will mean a long wait until I can get it all working, so this is to ask for any suggestions as to what the problem might be/any fixes that you know.

    Thanks in advance
    George

    Hi.

Try taking the sticks of ram out, and trying them one at a time, it's possible it could be ram failure.

Also fans won't overload the PSU, they don't use much power at all.

Do you hear any beeps at all when powering the computer on?
