I had my WD Netcenter drive die. In an attempt to recover I removed the drive from the NAS enclosure. I put it in an enclosure but my win machines were unable to see the drive. I bought some recovery software. It was able to see my drive but it reported the file system type as RAW. I copied the data to my machine and now have a copy of all my pictures, movies and music but everything is named FILE001 through just over 1 million. The files have no meaningful name, no date, etc. I have no way to effectively use the data besides opening each file one at a time. Is there any way to recover in a more graceful way? I tried "recover boot sector" option as well but it just copies a 0k file that doesn't seem to help.
    Thanks for any advice.

    - Also, please advise if you know of any software that can read and rename based off of exif data incase that hasn't been lost.

First of all, Is this a desktop or laptop? If it is a desktop, then just remove the hard drive and piggy back it onto another computer to get all your info and photos..
Always back up your doc's and photos to either cdr or dvd...

Neither. It was a single drive NAS. It was my backup, but as I ran out of space on my laptop it became my single point of storage. I had just ordered a 4 bay synology when this one died on me. :/
