If you are talking about custom sprays, HL and 1.6 do not support them. Only those games based on the Source Engine do, such as CS:S or DoD:S.
Thats not quite true... in 1>1.6All the sprays are in a folder (somewhere) insdide the installation folder. You can edit them, and they change in-game but its only a local change, other players will not see the custom sprays. We used to have a club at school whioch played cs / hl at lunchtime (EVERY day ) and i remember making a set of xmas sprays and having to put them on every computer...
the reason im sure you can do this is because when playing TFC long enough you come across a spray like powerpuff girls or naked chicks, i suppose these have to be uploaded onto your pc before the game starts, will this be possible to work if you happen to be the host?
I have found what you need, and it appears that players can set custom sprays in 1.6 that everyone on the the server can see, here's is a guide Edit-strike - Play 2 spray It covers creating a custom spray in the GIMP (Open source Photoshop equivalent) [Click The GIMP for windows ] and then making the nessicary changes so that HL (and mods) will send the custom spray....
