Sony Announces 80GB PS3 Bundle and Confirms Price cut

Sony never ceases to amaze me. They are just dropping the ball on this one. Roughly 3.5m consoles sold as opposed to microsofts mighty 11m? Not a suprise.

    Power up problem

If you have another power supply, I would suggest trying that, I've seen bad PSU's generate errors like this. I can't say this is definately the problem, but it's definately worth checking.

    The Origin Of Your Alias

Wow, this is a seriously old thread. Here goes, my nickname explained for the first time. About 8 years ago a 14 year old girl was sitting in a coffee shop with some goth kids. She put some hot sauce on something and said that it the had more "wompshmack". I didn't know any of these people, but...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 VS. AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz

Well, I just got a X2 6000, so if theres a benchmark program you would like me to run and give you the results, just name it. I'm sure someone on this forum has an E6600. I don't have a good video card yet though, so keep that in mind.

    AM2 Chip faceoff: x2 6000 vs. FX-62

Yes, I will in fact be upgrading the GPU. I think I'm just gonna get a geforece 7900gs. It has that sexy 256 bit memory interface. I'm not really into DX10 as you may have noticed from my post about it. Also getting the 7900gs keeps my monthly tech budget under $500!

    DirectX 10

I believe it was released without support but was later patched to include it, which would explain how I missed it.

    DirectX 10

I just wanted to lay down some info on DirectX 10. I've been reading about it all day when I should have been working (heh) and I learned some intersting things. 1. Currently DirectX 10 is a windows vista exclusive as part of their bully tactics to force people to buy vista. Microsoft has...

    Windows Not Starting

Yes, always memtest. If you don't have a disk with memtest I recomend getting some kind of linux bootdisk (I prefer gentoo) because even running a strictly windows environment, there are a lot of useful tools on there that help diagnose problems.

    Which Should I get first?

Even a 600w PSU is only gonna be like $60 tops, which is kinda change, compared to the other upgrades.I know I'm gonna need one eventualy, and I always account for a little extra budget for extras I might not have thought of when I start upgrading.

    AM2 Chip faceoff: x2 6000 vs. FX-62

An athlon 64 4000. Socket 939. Of course I also have ddr2 ram ram now, which also helps, I just thought the 7300 gs would be more of a bottleneck.

    AM2 Chip faceoff: x2 6000 vs. FX-62

Allright Big B, I listened to you on this one, I got the 6000. It's great, and the money I saved on avoiding the fx-62 has translated into an extra gig of ram. I'm still using a geforce 7300gs and I've doubled my HL2 framerates!

    Aol dialup for linux

Yeah, that's right, but they fixed one major bug when it switched from gaim to pidgin. In gaim if you had your mouse over someones name, and it popped up the little tooltip of more info for that user, then you alt-tabbed to a different program that tooltip would stay on the screen. That really...

    AM2 Chip faceoff: x2 6000 vs. FX-62

The phrase "AMD" is also attractive to amd fanboys. Yeah, I'm a fanboy, but at least I know I'm a fanboy, lol. I've been with AMD so long that I don't even consider intel anymore.

    AM2 Chip faceoff: x2 6000 vs. FX-62

Thanks, I've really been wondering why the fx was so much more expensive.. Still no reason, as far as I know. Newegg has been really screwin me on my last order(Which is really uncharacteristic of them) but I dont really have a lot of other options.I wish I could find another place to order from.

    Aol dialup for linux

Theres pidgin for windows, also, which is an awesome program. Much better than Gaim for windows was. So anyway, I thought the AOL dialer did something wierd like encrypting your username/password when making the dialup connection, or sending another chunk of data to verify that it was valid. I...

    Oil cooling

Oh, this really isn't because we think it's going to be more effective than water cooling, we just think it sounds fun. Has anyone here ever heard of a Tesla turbine? Nikola Tesla invented an oil pump that never really caught on. But looking at the design for it reminded me of a hard drive...

    Which Should I get first?

I'm upgrading my whole system, and since this is going to cost a lot of money I'm doing one upgrade this month, and one next month. I will be getting (I've FINALLY decided) An AM2 mobo with a Nforce 570 Ultra(I don't want sli) An Athlon 64 FX-62 AND An nvidia geforce 8800(probably gts...

    Aol dialup for linux

The best I can suggest for you, as far as the packages go, is to take it over to a friends house or something, put it on their network, and get it all nice and set up. As far as your dialer, I don't know of one, I dont think AOL supports linux, and they go far out of their way to make sure that...

    Overlord

I would like to add that I have the PC version, and it's highly scalable. It can run on some pretty sub par machinery. I have it running on a P4 1.5ghz with 256mb's of RAMBUS ram. It runs, a bit choppy, but good enough. I also have it running on my good computer (one from THIS decade) and it...

    Windows Not Starting

Well, if you run step by step confirmation (which may only be in XP pro) You can at least figure out where windows is crashing. Your looking at a lot of possible problems, but the most common are A. a missing windows component, or B. Windows failing when it tries to load some driver for a piece...
