Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - share in Windows 7?

Hi everyone, I'm dual booting Ubuntu with Windows 7. In Ubuntu, I can see and access my Windows partition as it shows up as a 'local disk' in Ubuntu. Great! Windows 7 and Ubuntu are both on my one hard drive (I partitioned it to accommodate Ubuntu). I would like to have access to my...

    Email client for Windows 7?

Hi, I have recently switched ISPs from Virgin to BT.com. I'm currently using BT's Yahoo email, which is of course, web-based. I have tried to get Thunderbird (my favourite), Eudora and Opera to work with my BT Yahoo email, as I would like a client that I can work with offline. None of...

    Need new graphics card.

Hi guys, Running Windows 7 on my old PC, which I keep upstairs. Just maxed out the board as far as memory is concerned (2GB) and the performance is great, except for watching DVDs, whereas the screen output jitters a little. The problem lies with the graphics card. The board supports 1.5V...

    Where are they now?

Hi, Glad you're okay. Did not mention you, as I had seen posts of yours fairly recently, but I would have equated you with the guys I mentioned as the 'old regulars' - in the nicest possible way, of course!:) Take care, David.

    Where are they now?

Having only been on here on & off for the last few months. I have noticed that there were no new posts by BigBrother, Donkey, megamaced. When I was a regular on here a couple of years back, these guys were avid posters. Just wondered why they don't seem to be around now. David.

Suggestions for a PC gone crazy!

Hi, A friend of mine's desktop running XP is taking (so he says) around a staggering 10 minutes to fully boot into Windows! When it finally gets there, there are errors with just about any application he tries to run. Clicks on Outlook Express, and a different program opens. His web...

    Home folder will not open.

Hi Guys, Found the solution. The parent folder (which in my case is 'david' did not have a program opening facility linked to it. Odd, because only this morning it did! I simply had to re-apply a program opening facility to it. I just applied File Manager. Solution as follows courtesy...

    Home folder will not open.

Yes, I'm running Gnome. Nautilus was installed, but I reinstalled it just now to see if it would put things right - but it has not. Have done a little research and there is a school or two of thought that the problem is bug-related. I'll look some more and will post back if I find a solution.

    Boot order priority

"XP - Stick the USB drive in and boot into XP. Then go to Control Panel - System - Advance (tab). There click on the 'Setting' in the 'Start up and recovery' area. In the drop down menu, you should have listed all operating system found on the system. If Ubuntu is listed there then proceed to...

    Boot order priority

Hi, Have not been around for sometime, so hope everyone is doing okay. I'm currently dual booting XP & Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop (I have Ubuntu installed on an external USB drive in this case). XP boots first if I don't initiate Ubuntu from the menu. Can I change the boot order, so that...

Hi Daniel, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I had checked everything including the BIOS. However, have solved the problem. The Acer laptop came with its own power management software - which overrides XPs power management options. It seems, as far as I can assertain, that Acer power management...

    Googlebots!

Hi, Not sure if this is the right forum for this post, but it seems more appropriate than the others. I have a newish website that is being crawled by Googlebots, and other spiders. They seem to be eating up a lot of my 10000MB bandwidth. From what I've read, the presence of these...
