ok now it dont boot up at all. BIOS beeps at me one medium beep followed by two short beeps. What does this mean?:mad:

im using the drivers that ive had no problems with. i thought i could be some kind of clash between the sound card that i installed because i reinstalled those when i wiped the HD with the graphics card. so i uninstalled the sound drivers. but no luck yet. gotta do more tests

the errors are to do with the graphics card failing to draw certain things. THis is the error that xp cites when i reboot. thinking that the error must be either a virus or some kind of driver error i wiped the HD amd started again. However i still get the same errror when trying to enter...

i can get the system stable by turing the display settings down to the minimum hardware acceleration. so if the problem is driver related i can do something about it

i know. but 9199 is plenty good enough for now. maybe next year i think about doing that.

wow nice one. i dont think ill be clocking my porcessor in a hurry after last time! i think in a few months ill put it up alittle and maybe clock the graphics card a little. but for now im just happy that its working again.

just to be safe i got the same board as i had before. (EP - 4B2M) and the sound card was just the bog standard SB 4.1 (m-board £75 sound £30)

bought a replacemnt motherboard and fitted it myself (my first time ;) ) but the onboard sound didnt work so i had to buy a sound card. total cost £105.

with the below spec i hit 9199. but in the comparisons im underperforming with computers with the same processor. they must be using drr or rd ram

looks like taking it to a shop is my only option, as i dont have another p4 system to test on, and im not confident with taking out processors anyway. o well, thanks anyway.:rolleyes:

new ram doesnt work!!! :( its the same as before. so if my ram is fine and the motherboard beeps when there are no components. then i have to jump to the conclusion that my processor is fried!!!! :sad: is there any way of telling that the processor is done in just by looking at it?

u should be able to play those games no probs with xp. sounds like some kind of driver problems. try gettings the latest drivers for your graphics card and get all XP fixes.

its ok ive found out i wanted 64 64 cos its non parity. the other is ecc which i dont want. ;)

there appear to be two types of ram with different module configurations on is 64 x 64 and the other is 64 x 72 what is the difference is something to with the location ie, does UK differ from rest of eurpoe

Thought id give an update on my situation. After doing a component check i seems that the RAM is problem. With everything in i get nothing. but with the RAM out i get loud angry bleeps. so im going to get some replacement RAM. since i am now getting bleeps i assume that everything...
