Q8400 emps normal or am I lucky

Since you have fairly good airflow in your case as well as good CPU cooling and the room you are in is cool then max temp of 63C sound about right. Idle temps sound about right too, although the BIOS idle temps are maybe a little cooler than usual. Should be fine!

Q8400 emps normal or am I lucky

What program are you using to check temps? Try the BIOS, and also Coretemp and see if idle temps are about the same. The cooler you have is pretty good too. AS5 is also good thermal grease. What is the temperature in the room you are in? Its winter over in the USA so I'm guessing its a fair bit...

    Which Processor is better?

I think they are both laptop CPU's. I'm fairly sure there is no Core 2 Quad Extreme 2.53GHz desktop version. At least not in that clock speed.

    Cooling Advice - Air Cooled

Yeah an aftermarket CPU cooler will keep it cooler in most cases (although in my case going from a tiny stock cooler on my E7300 to an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro did absolutely nothing to help the temperatures and if you are not overclocking, I can tell you the stock cooler with an i7 920 is...

    Cooling Advice - Air Cooled

Hi there, that case is plenty good enough for your PC with air cooling. If you are not overclocking it will run very cool 24/7. All water cooling is going to do is add to costs, setup time, and ease of use for upgrading and if something goes wrong and needs replacing. As for graphics cards I see...

Different memory/CPU ratios in BIOS and CPU-Z

In some cases CPU-Z is not reliable. The CPU voltage in my PC is shown a little lower than what it is in the BIOS. I'm not sure if there are too many other programs that show detailed CPU information though.

Different memory/CPU ratios in BIOS and CPU-Z

Have you got the latest version of CPU-Z? Maybe try using another program which might tell you the correct values. Although the BIOS would probably be the most accurate.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro worse than stock cooler!?

I am using the bios (only for idle temp), gigabyte easy tune 6, real temp 3.00, and core temp to get the same basic readings for both the stock and freezer 7 pro. It is fairly firm and the TIM really glues it on so it is even hard to take back off! I can however tilt it left to right a little...

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro worse than stock cooler!?

G'day guys, this is my first post here so be nice :) I am no noob when it comes to hardware and am a regular user of MSFN forums but decided I should sign up for a hardware forum as that is what I am most interested in. I have a slight problem to start out with :D A few days ago I bought...
