    Intel Core 2 Duo E2160/E6750

Alright thanks for the advice gazaway. Are you talking about both processors at stock speed when you speak of the 3-5% difference, or when the E2160 is overclocked? What about navigating around windows vista? Is it really not going to make much of a difference? Im also not sure about my choice...

Finally getting around to new build...

Yeah I'm using a converter currently. The 8600GT plays WoW far better than a 7900GS, and so much better than a 7600GT. I'd pay the extra £20 for the 8600GT. You would be able to play full graphics and get over 40fps in Outland with that card, possibly even higher.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E2160/E6750

I'm planning on building a new system soon. I have a budget of around £500. I want to build a Vista System which is capable of doing a lot of gaming (I'm planning on an 8800GT purchase). I am having some trouble choosing a processor, I'm currently on a Pentium D 805 system and at times it can...

    Reviews/Advice on my upgrade

I wouldn't recommend that move. In the short term you may see this as cheaper, but in the future (a year or so, maybe less) you might want to play Crysis and CoD4 and not be able to run them too well. This means you will then buy a DX10 card, which may be less than the DX10 card, but if you had...

    Reviews/Advice on my upgrade

Well the 7950GT is a great card for all your DirectX9 games. However, titles like Call of Duty 4 and Crysis are built for DirectX10 graphics cards, with backwards compatibility to DirectX9 cards. If you want to take full advantage of all the bells and whistles offered by DirectX10 in these...

Let us know how it runs :) I'm looking to purchase the same products as you.

    Whats the Price/Performance spot?

Not really. It supports both DDR2 and DDR3. The board is well priced at around £75 and its also futureproof.

I don't think you'll be able to play COD4 fine with any lower card. That 8800GT is a beast and would certainly be worth waiting for.

    New gaming rig build

My motherboard is a P5LD2 Deluxe which doesnt support C2D unfortunately. Ill need a new mobo, new cpu, new psu and new gpu. This GPU is glitching up all the time. In WoW im getting objects tearing all the time, shooting right across the screen. It is very irritating, it also enjoys turning...

Finally getting around to new build...

I have a 7900GS and in Outland the framerates can get quite low (with all settings maxed out) - currently getting about 30fps in Nagrand. You may want to try an 8600GT which my brother has, the 7900GS performs better in most games, but in newer releases and also in World of Warcraft the 8600GT...

    New gaming rig build

Thanks for the reply gazaway. I was looking at the OCZ StealthXStream 600W for just £49.99. It's a known brand and doesn't cost too much more, if nobody can recommend the Arctic Power I may choose the OCZ. I slept on the decision about spending £500 on a new build and it's left me a bit stuck...

    Whats the Price/Performance spot?

I'm building an E2180 + GA-P35C-DS3P system, seems to be the best bang/buck at this time :) The P35C model supports DDR3 RAM.

    New gaming rig build

I'm researching some parts for a new rig which I plan on building quite soon (next few weeks). I want to be able to play games such as COD4, Crysis, WiC at a 1280x1024 resolution with high graphics and 4xAA. CPU - Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2GHz Socket 775 800MHz FSB L2 1MB Cache Retail Box...

Building a new system. Opinions Please!

We're talking in a completely different league here. The X1300 is for one, not even directX10 and is not going to be futureproof at all. Darkstranger I wouldn't worry about a bottleneck at the moment, it's unlikely that you will be pushing the GTX to its limits (at this time). The C2Ds are...

Toothpaste for a Celeron CPU ?

Toothpaste for a Clleron CPU ? If you bought a retail (boxed) Celeron, then there should be a heatsink included which will have a thermal pad attached to the bottom. This means you dont need to mess around at all with getting the right layer of thermal paste, you just stick the heatsink onto...

    Motherboard Chipsets

    Thanks a lot B I was going to buy a 975X but it's unnecessary, so I can save myself a few £'s.

    Motherboard Chipsets

I've been looking at motherboards for an Intel Core 2 Duo and would like to know is there a huge performance difference between the motherboard chipsets? The price difference is quite large so I would prefer to go with a 965P over a 975X chipset. Could somebody please explain to me the...

    Buying a new rig.

Surely that's a compatibility problem which will be resolved. I can't believe that the best consumer hardware around would not be able to play FSX.

    Celeron Vs Pentium

Just buy a stock P4 cooler from ebay. There's loads of them on there for low prices.

ISP won't let me download in the evening

I use tiscali too. They have this thing which they don't tell you much about called a Fair User Policy. Basically this means that if you use a large amount of bandwidth then you slow the internet speed for everyone else (not single users, but if many people are heavy users then the speed goes...
